Animals
This kit contains two books to help identify Minnesota mammals, 1 book for Minnesota reptiles and amphibians, and a quick guide for identifying animal tracks. It also includes a pair of binoculars, to help you sight the animals from a safe distance.
Birding
This kit contains two different Minnesota bird identification guides, one for adults and one for children, as well as an activity book for families going on a birding adventure together. If the weather is keeping you indoors, you can also listen to the 4 disc audio recording and learn to identify Minnesota birds by their songs and calls. Finally, it contains a pair of binoculars to help you see the birds more clearly, even at a distance.
Foraging
This kit contains 4 identification guides to common plants you might consider foraging for, from general foraging to medicinal foraging, and from mushrooms to berries. The kit also contains a magnifying glass to help you identify the plants you are studying.
Geology
This kit contains three different guides to the rocks and minerals of Minnesota, and a magnifying glass for seeing small details up close.
Hiking
This kit contains hiking guides of 2 different difficulty levels, an activity book for families adventuring together, 4 quick identification guides for plants and animals you might see along the way, binoculars for sighting at a distance, a magnifying glass for sighting up close, and a compass for help with navigation.
Little Critters
This kit contains 5 specialized identification guides, an activity book for families adventuring together, binoculars for sighting at a distance, a magnifying glass for sighting up close, 2 bug viewing jars with magnified lids and removable bases with built-in measurements, and tweezers to delicately handle your objects of study.
Orienteering
This kit contains two books on navigation and orienteering, to teach you either low-tech or high-tech methods, and a Garmin eTrex 10 GPS unit, an orienteering compass, and a combination altimeter and barometer to help you reach your destinations. You will need to provide your own maps, based on your destinations of choice.
Trees & Greens
This kit contains identification guides for Minnesota trees, lichens, ferns, and allies. It also contains a magnifying glass to help you with your identification efforts, and a flower & leaf pressing kit so you can better preserve and record your findings.
Water
